6th Annual "Tim Nickos Memorial Candlelight Bowl" This is a Candlelight Bowling Fundraiser in memory of my son Tim Nickos who passed away on 6/28/2011. It's a night of bowling, fun, friends, memories and a great cause. We have joined with Young Hearts for Life and created the Tim Nickos Memorial Fund that will be fundraising to do the following • Heart Screenings that could save the life of a young adult that otherwise might not have been detected • Co-Sponsor a “Young Hearts 4 Life” Heart Screening at a High School that needs financial help to provide “Free” screenings to its students.
Tim Nickos Memorial Scholarship Co-Sponsors Downers Grove North High School Heart Screening with "Young Hearts 4 Life"
I am excited to announce that the Tim Nickos Memorial Scholarship is Co-Sponsoring the "Young Hearts 4 Life" Heart Screening at Downers Grove High School on Thursday February 18th 2016. This is because of all of you that donated and attended the candlelight. You have helped other students get the chance to get their hearts checked for FREE. This screening would have caught the condition that took Tim's life.
We will be doing this every year at a school that needs some help financially. This is because of your generosity. So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
Tim memory gives back..young hearts 4 life comes to olchs
My quote from the oak lawn Patch
“Tim will be remembered for many, many years where before he was just a student,” Dale Nickos said. “If it wasn’t for Tim passing we might not have Young Hearts for Life Here today and possibly save some kids’ lives.
Tim Nickos was truly an amazing individual. He lived every day to the fullest by inspiring and motivating many through his contagious smile and great sense of humor. He was truly loved by many. Tim was to be the Captain of the Oak Lawn Community High School varsity swim team his senior year and was also a proud member of the OLCHS band. Most importantly, Tim always provided for everyone around him. Tim was tragically taken from us in his sleep at the young age of 17. He had a heart condition called Cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) that went undiagnosed. This led to cardiac arrhythmia, which took his life.
